EBoard Positions

With elections coming up we will make short summaries of what each position's responsibilities are. If you want to nominate anyone or yourself for any position e-mail Stephanie at smr44@drexel.edu. Enjoy!

President (must have served on Eboard for one year prior to election)
• Figure Head of the chapter, Face of SHPE
• Network with ALL contacts
• Run the EBoard, maintain checks and balances on what is going on, backup EBoard members when needed
• Coordinate the completion of the End Of Year Report
• Maintain strong relationship with chapter’s Advisor
• Lead Transition from one EBoard to the next (with incoming President)
• Event: Pre-College
• Resolve conflicts on the EBoard and within the chapter
• Responsibility for SHPE Jr
• Overall responsibility to make sure SAFAC requirements are met by EBoard
• President must have excellent organization and be able to keep the chapter following the goals set out
• Everything the President does is seen as SHPE doing
• Make sure the chapter runs smoothly
• Teach future EBoard to be passionate about SHPE
• Pass on the legacy of Drexel SHPE
• Care about the people in SHPE – help them personally as well as professionally
• Break the barriers of cliques within the chapter
• Move things forward despite anything getting “personal”
• The EBoard is like Voltron – the President is the head – it will only work if the President keeps things together and moving

Treasurer

The treasurer’s foremost responsibility is to keep an up to date budget for both accounts and to complete the allocation request form during spring term. The treasurer must keep him/herself informed of any purchases for events in order to update the budget. Before any other member spends money for any event, the treasurer must see that the event follows the budget for the year. They must keep all receipts of all catering, setup fees, etc in order to use as documentation for next year’s budget. As another eboard member they are also responsible for planning and running at least 1-2 meetings per term, making sure the general body is satisfied with events and activities and making sure everyone is focused and motivated.

Public Relations Chair

The Public Relations Chair holds one of the greatest and most intensive reponsibilities, making SHPE known on campus. PR chair must assume the position of chief freshman recruiter, and is also reponsible for all advertising done on campus whether it be through flyers, chalking, posts on the daily digest, instant messages, phone calls, etc. PR chair's first objective is to increase the number of SHPE members and maintain current ones. As stated under treasurer, any eboard member must also run at least 1-2 meetings per term. PR is a versatile position that works with all other eboard members to promote their events. Finally, PR is responsible for a charity event to be held during spring term.

External Vice President

The primary responsibilities of External VP include the following:
*Develop and maintain corporate partnerships and sponsorships
*Raise funds for the chapter on a corporate level
*Major Event – Company Showcase
*Continue relations with companies beyond SHPE events – work hard to build up the relationship and follow-up
*Send out Quarterly Newsletter to companies and Alumni
*Coordinate with Treasurer on Fundraising
*Lead team for corporate sponsorship recruiting at Conferences

Internal Vice President

The Internal Vice President is responsible for maintaining a healthy, working relationship with members of the organization as well as key contacts within the Drexel Community and members of other student organizations. This is one position where it is imperative to "reach out" and develop a constant correspondence with organizations and individuals in SHPE's network. The Internal Vice President is responsible for planning and executing the Latino Heritage Month Closing Ceremony, one of SHPE's most beloved events. Planning should begin in the summer term and execution takes place in fall term. The IVP should form a committee of general body members to assist with LHM. These events can be experience building for members, but also gives the IVP a sense of ownership of an event and of SHPE. The IVP is also responsible for co-coordination of the annual Alumni Dinner. He/she must always be available for any questions or concerns the general body may have and be approachable and friendly. Another main responsibilty of the Internal Vice President (that is shared by all other positions) is Freshman recruitment and retainment, always being sure to make new members feel welcome and reach out to prospective members throughout Drexel's campus.

SECRETARY

* Maintain Membership List
* Register Members with SHPE National
* Register Membership with National office and for Conferences
* Create General Meeting Agendas
* Send out weekly announcement and reminder emails to the SHPE listserv
* Take minutes of meetings and post on DU SHPE website
* Update term calendars on DU SHPE website
* Update blog with the announcements
* Co-coordinator of the annual Alumni Dinner

Silent Auction Fundraiser DATABASE

OK shpers! As many of you already know, this year SHPE is holding a Silent Auction at the Latino Gala (May 26.) The aim of this fundraiser is to garner funds for an official SHPE scholarship, which will be doled out to a shpe member who demonstrates merit, financial need, and dedication to community service. We are asking businesses around the area to contribute anything and everything (gift cards, products, money, etc) to auction off at this year's Gala. The key to make this a successful event is to gather as many products as we can, so help out! I, Carlos, will be giving out sponsorhip packets at every GB meeting before the GALA. If you require them before the meetings just contact me at cb662@drexel.edu or 610.246.3439, I would be more than happy to provide them.

Please post on here whatever stores you have visited. This is so there will be no overlap. As of now the following stores have been visited.

1) Cosi
2) Cereality
3) Bubble House
4) Mad Mex (feel free to go to this place, I did not have the chance to speak to their general manager.)
5) The Bridge
6) Bubble House
7) Douglas (feel free to go to this place, the GM seemed apathetic, more pressure should help cure this ailment!)

Lets make this list grow! Thanks everyone!

Centro Nueva Creacion is a youth center that hosts a Saturday morning program for the kids (mostly puertorican) in the neighborhood from 11am to 2pm. We play sports with them, do crafts, sometimes cook, and they always have lunch for the kids and volunteers (PB&J throwback style). We will be getting a van from the school to drive out there.. so you don’t even have to pay for transportation! Please RSVP to nvargas@seas.upenn.edu if you would like to help out on Feb 4th.

Thanks Moi!

January 18th: SHPE's Big One

EAT ME!! WIN ME!!!

SHPE is throwing this huge "hi! how are you? JOIN US!" party with incredible useful ish being given away. you know stuff like pencils, paper, Ipods, home theatre systems, FOOD , the kitchen sink etc. We totally want to sucker other people into SHPE and we figure free food and prizes are the best way to go. BUT no man is an island right?! right! Carlos and Chris need the SHPErs to help spread the word.

why you may ask yourself?! i'll tell you! because the more members we have, the more money we get, the better our events are, the more companies want to see you, the more job offers you solcit! see its all connected kid! plus let's face it, we SHPErs know we're the cool kids, we gots to let the other people on campus in on the secret!

The PR chairs need bodies to help them post flyers, grafitti tag the buildings and sidewalks, giveout handbills, and general just cause mayhem with the advertising for this event.

what's that i hear?! sign you up you say?! FANTASTICO!!!
call Carlos the advertising sith at: 610 246 3439, or
hit him up on the email tip at: cb662@drexel.edu

DO IT! DO IT NOW!
Thanks kids!
